Newcomers' 'Saiyaara' crosses Rs 500 crore worldwide as Amritsar's Aneet Padda becomes a star

'Saiyaara', starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has crossed Rs 500 crore at the worldwide box office. Directed by Mohit Suri, the film was released on July 18.

According to PTI, the film has earned Rs 308 crore (net) in India and, with its overseas earnings, its global gross stands at Rs 507 crore.

Producer Yash Raj Films called it the highest-grossing love story in the history of Indian cinema.

The two leads play a singer-songwriter pair who fall in love. Critics praised the story, the music and the performances of both debutants.

Lead actress Aneet Padda was born in Amritsar. Such a big hit in her first film as the lead has made her a star almost overnight.
