Canada has appointed Angad Singh Dhillon, whose family roots lie in Punjab, as its Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Arab Emirates.
The appointment was announced on September 25 by Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand. Dhillon will replace Radha Krishna Panday as Canada's envoy to the UAE.
Dhillon traces his family roots to Ghungrana village in Ludhiana district. He has most recently served as Director of Operations and Stakeholder Relations in the Office of Prime Minister Mark Carney.
He previously served as chief of staff to two federal cabinet ministers, in the small business and transport portfolios, and has been involved in Canada's engagements at forums including the G7, the G20 and the UN General Assembly.
The appointment was part of a wider set of diplomatic appointments announced by Canada's foreign ministry.
