American traveller drinks straight from Himachal stream, says India has 'the cleanest water on Earth'

A video of an American tourist in Dharamkot, near Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, has gone viral. In the clip he lies down at the edge of a mountain stream and drinks straight from it.

The traveller, known as 'Earth Traveller' on Instagram, points at the water and says, "India has the cleanest drinking water on Earth." He captioned the post: "Americans can love INDIA too."

The video has been watched more than 2 million times. Many viewers praised his love for India and called Himalayan water the best in the world.

Plenty of others replied with a joking "Bro, don't!", pointing out that someone could be bathing upstream, while some simply asked whether he was feeling all right afterwards.

Health experts advise that water from natural sources should not be drunk without boiling or treating it, however clean it looks, because it can carry bacteria, viruses and parasites.
