Record 22 Punjabi-origin MPs elected to Canada's House of Commons

A record 22 candidates of Punjabi origin have been elected to Canada's House of Commons in the federal election held on April 28, the highest number in the country's history.

The winners include candidates from both the Liberal and Conservative parties and will represent ridings across the country, from the Greater Toronto Area to Calgary and Surrey.

The result reflects the growing political participation of the Punjabi community in Canada, which is home to one of the largest Punjabi populations outside India.
