Air India flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick crashed minutes after take-off on Thursday, June 12. The Boeing 787-8 was carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew.
The aircraft left Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1:38 pm and came down on a doctors' hostel near Meghaninagar.
Of the 242 people on board, 241 were killed. A single passenger, found in seat 11A, survived and is being treated in hospital.
Nineteen people on the ground also died, taking the total death toll to 260 and making it one of the worst air disasters in the country.
A preliminary report by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) later found that both engines shut down within about a second of each other shortly after take-off, causing an immediate loss of altitude.
